While driving it is primarily the starter battery of your vehicle which will be charged.
When the starter battery is full, the unit automatically switches over to charge the second (additional) battery.
Therefore both batteries will be charged by the generator of your vehicle.
When the voltage of the starter battery drops below 12.8V, the unit automatically breaks the connection between the two batteries. Power can still be extracted from the second battery. It is important that electrical consumers will only be connected to the second battery. This way a safe start of your vehicle is always possible.
This unit is also perfectly suited for operation in solar isle systems with second (additional) battery.
